Assessment of the Korean Open Data Law

Annyeong haseyo!

As the result of a recent public consultation on an Open Data bill that is being discussed in Brazilian parliament, I have started a discussion on what, ideally, should be included in a national (or local) open data law,

As the Republic of Korea has had an Open Data Law since 2013, we would like to know, since then

  • what have been the challenges in implementing the law,
  • what are the main results achieved, and how has the law contributed to the improvement of open data policies and implementation,
  • if practice has revealed the need for any improvements (amendments) to the law.

If there have been any assessments or reports on the efficacy and effectiveness of this legislation, that would be very useful.

Also, any comments on the Korean law would be appreciated.

Best regards,
Augusto Herrmann
