1: should all the email adresses be migrated to this plattform
2. if yes, how should this be done? default settings?

  1. Please note that Discourse’s POP polling and category based mailing list mode is not as convenient as a regular mailing list, because there are still some drawbacks regarding signatures and CCs.
    For mailing lists I propose Lumen or GroupServer, where the latter also has Mailman import scripts.

  2. Presumably, there is no known best practice for importing into Discourse, yet. But you can invite each and every one of them.

We have gone some way toward enabling starting topics via email and replying to topics via email.
