I’ve noticed a couple related things:
- The Open Source Initiative is thinking about what it should try to do “beyond licensing” (my typical answer). @Luis mentioned free/open web services
- The Free Software Foundation has released its evaluation of software development platforms (the criteria and current evaluations are linked from the announcement; all are non-open in typical FSF fashion).
There are lots of pertinent discussions happening in other communities that ought be examined if we ever get back to the OSSD. I still doubt very much we have the right concentration of expertise here to do any justice to the problem(s), but would be happy to be wrong, as usual.
