Global Open Data Index methodological consultation - the next steps

Hello all,

The next couple of weeks is going to be an exciting time for the Global Open Data Index. We are in the process of wrapping up the public consultation in which we asked you what datasets you think we should include in the next Index (updates soon!). Now want to move to next stage - hear your thoughts and ideas about two methodological issues -

  1. Datasets definitions: This will include our assumptions about the datasets, descriptions of the current problem in comparing datasets on a global level and guidelines for describing datasets.

  2. Evaluation of the datasets - Should we include two new criteria - Feedback and Historic data? If so, why? We need to take into consideration that the Index is looking at a big sample of Global South countries and that we need to see how these questions apply to them as well.

Each of these consultations will take place in this Discuss forum in separate threads which will be published by me in the next 24 hours. In addition, each consultation will be open for a week from the time it is published. Anyone with an account to the forum can participate. Please note that our team at Open Knowledge International will have the final decision regarding the methodology, but we do want to emphasise that your comments will influence our decisions.

Please use this thread for questions about the process or suggestion of how to make it better. It is the first time that we do this process through the forum, and we appreciate your feedback about it.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and ideas!
